MEE-UGV is an organisation that offers guidance and gives information to people with disabilities and domestic problems. The information centre is manned by two consultants and goes to market squares and town centres in and around the region of Utrecht. This way MEE can reach more people that are in need of help, for example people that do not know about the organisation or people that are not able to go to the main office in the city.
Studioman was asked to come up with a concept that fits the organisations needs: a mobile information centre that is easily noticed in crowded areas with a system that can be installed at almost any location. The combination of an inviting exterior, a functional interior and a selection of durable materials and products gives the information centre a certain look that makes it a welcoming environment.
Outside there are two consulting posts underneath the parasols where clients can come for a quick consultations and a cup of coffee or tea. Inside there is consulting space that provides full privacy and has room for up to four people. The information centre is equipped with all the comforts and needs of an office space, includes storage for folders and brochures, coffee machine, a small refrigerator, a water tap and a central heating system. The mobile information centre is based on a Volkswagen Crafter van and was assembled by Camperbouw Holland BV.
Most of the facilities are built into one unit in the back of the van. This wall unit is accessible from both sides, its separates the consulting space from the storage area. This is used for storing the exterior objects: tables, bench, sandwich-board and the parasols if necessary. Every piece of furniture or equipment has its own holder or place where it can be fixed before the information centre moves to the next location.
